I live in the Pineview area on the map at 47 Deer Run Road Lobelville Tn. I would love love to have better internet would save me hundreds in gas back and forth to Nashville everyday. Better internet means I could work from home ... I live in a area that I don’t think their are a lot of people in my area that will get it ? So does that mean I don’t get it ?

These are all great questions, and we're working to make an official announcement about Phase 2. As shared, MLEC/MLConnect is committed to making broadband an option for ALL MLEC members. It is not a matter of "if" but "when." Our goal is to complete construction by the end of 2022, but considering the amount of interest, it will take longer to finish home and business installations. Of course we would like to serve everyone at one time. Unfortunately, it is not possible. We appreciate your patience and support as we work to serve everyone.

Can you please help us understand this new phase 2 map, it appears like you're going to solely focus on Humphreys county and not give anyone in Lewis, Perry, or Hickman county any more growth until a different point in the future, is this going to be how it works? I'm sure most of us are very interested to understand how it works.

We offer no data limits, no contracts, FREE standard installation and hometown service. At this time, we are working on installations in the Phase I areas. While your zone (01-334 West To River) is not in Phase I, we are making progress with our Phase II construction in the rural areas every day. Look for an official update soon. We are continuing and will make broadband an option to all MLEC members. As shared in an earlier post, the map section of our webiste is undergoing some changes, so your zone name is the best indicator of construction progress for your area. From construction to installation, there are several steps in the process, and it will take time to reach everyone. MLConnect continues to make progress every day. The numbers associated with a registration, such as 06-364 are the location's zone. Phase I zones include those with the name of a city followed by numbers, for example New Johnsonville 04-2140. Phases II, III, and IV are numbers followed by a location, such as 06-364 Coble.

Thank you for your comments, Mr. Betz. We always want to keep the lines of communication open and provide answers on this project. The website experienced an outage yesterday and your comments were missed. The colors on the SERVICE AREA page map correspond to stages the areas are in. Below the map on that page, the colors correspond to a different message about that area. Only Phase I areas are highlighted at this time. As shared in the beginning, MLConnect is committed to serving ALL areas. The grants received are designated for specific areas, and these are in the design stage. As the system is built out, more rural areas are being included but it will take time to reach everyone. Again, thank you for your comments and this opportunity to share information.

ML Connect - James Betz

Strange, my comment did not get posted. I will try again.Ms. Harrington is correct in her question. The rural areas are always last to be serviced. The city has acce to all kinds of internet providers at high speed. If the infrastructure is in place it's just a matter of running cable. How ever if it is broadband internet over the power lines it just a matter of installing repeaters.

ML Connect - James Betz

12:59am July 2, 2019

James Betz

It would really be professional if you would explain what the colors represent on your service MAP. Being an electrical engineer that answer you gave the lady about why the rural areas are last is phony, once the "infrastructure" is in place to service the city it's just a matter of running cable. Unless it's broadband via the power grid, which would not require extra cable, right. The people in the RURAL areas are always last to get anything. And like she said in the city people have access to several internet services. So how about an honest answer?

I used to live in civilized areas of this world like Germany and Colorado Springs and the Denver area. I have always had cable internet and it's usually very expensive. Usually 150 Mbs was considered fast and they would charge about $90. So after looking over your pricing for your services for data speeds, paying about $80 or slightly more for 1 GB of data speed kinda makes me hesitant to believe what I am seeing. We currently have Viasat and we are paying about $150 for 50 Mbs which is the fastest satellite internet we could find. And if a cloud flies over us the internet dies out or they will throttle us during peak hours to around 10 Mbs. 10 Mbs is nearly dialup days slow and it's a constant source of frustration for us. All I can say is if you do put in this internet cable or fiber ( I am guessing its fiber due to the 1 GB option ). But if you do this I will be eternally grateful to you guys. I feel like my hopes are being raised just to have them dashed because so many goobers out here think cable internet also means you haft to have the TV packages even though you have stated clearly thats not the case. I hope this happens so we can happily get rid of satelite.

I’m inquiring about a more accurate time line as to when internet services will be available for my address. It looks as if the installment stopped one road before mine which is disappointing considering we’ve been waiting 13 years for any kind of internet service and the areas serviced already have multiple internet options available to them. I was very excited to hear about possible opportunities to connect but now from news sources it’s looking like it will be a few more years before we have options. Our home is less than four miles from town and 2 miles from hwy 20/Summertown hwy so it’s not like we are way out on the other side of the county. I would appreciate any new accurate updates you could provide. Thank you.

Like building the electric system 80 years ago, building a fast, affordable, reliable broadband network will take time and starts with a strong foundation. Our goal is to serve all areas by the end of 2022. MLConnect is using a phase construction approach to build a reliable infrastructure for the entire five-county project. Services are being installed in Waverly, and construction is ongoing in Hohenwald and Centerville. After this, we will move to (in order) New Johnsonville, Erin, Tennessee Ridge, McEwen, Linden then Lobelville. It is our goal to have these all ready for service in 2019. We applied for six grants under the Tennessee Broadband Accessibility Grant Program and received one for a section of rural Humphreys County. We will apply for additional grand funds in the future. It will take time to cover MLEC's entire service territory, but we are committed to the task.

So it looks like Phase 1 is pretty much the same people in Hohenwald that already have access to Spectrum and other broadband Providers. I thought that the grant was made to deliver internet options other than satellite to people in Rural areas. To me that would be people outside of the areas that already have options. I'm sort of disappointed. 3 years to wait sucks.

MLConnect's original goal was to serve Coble and other areas outside of Phase I by the end of 2022. We're excited about the potential of moving that goal closer with the help of grants and other factors. As Phase I nears the end, Phase II will be designed. Areas selected for Phase II will be based on construction costs, existing infrastructure, time constraints, etc. Another determining factor is the amount of interest in each neighborhood (number of online registrations). This is why registering on the website is SO IMPORTANT. For example, if there are 50 houses on a road and only 4 registered, another location with 20 houses and 15 registrations looks to have more interest. High registration does not guarantee a neighborhood’s inclusion in the next phase, but more interest can increase its chances. Encouraging your neighbors to register as well would be a great help. Registration is not an obligation to buy, but shows area interest, helps guide future construction, and provides a way to contact you when broadband signups begin in their area. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and http://www.mlconnect.com for updates.

Would it be possible to have the areas in phase one identified?

All areas inside Phase I are expected to be live and begin receiving service in 2019. The other phases have not be designed at this time and locations not assigned to a particular phase. However, we anticipate all MLEC areas in all five counties will be completed in four years.

Great question! If NOT registered on our website, enter your address, select “residential” or “commercial” and then “Search For My Address.” If the next screen says, “Congratulations, your address is in the design stage,” you are in Phase I. Whether or not you are in Phase I, pick products you are interested in and click “Submit.” (Not an obligation to buy but registers interest and gives us a way to contact you when we are working in your area.) If you HAVE already registered, sign in or click on "Service Areas" above. From here, you can zoom in on the map. Areas in orange are in Phase I. The first MLConnect phase for broadband construction will help build the entire project’s infrastructure and must be built before we can move out to the more rural areas. But, we're coming! Other phases have not been designed at this time. To learn more about our phase approach and how you can register your area, check our FAQ section.

The service area MAP explains very little. It needs more explanation about what the colors are telling us. Please post what the colors are telling us or what they represent. It seems like the areas in town have access to all kinds of high speed internet, but those of us who live outside of town are treated like we don't exist.

Our rural hometowns - areas other providers have overlooked - are in immediate need of fast, affordable, reliable broadband for many reasons. This is why Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative stepped forward to establish MLConnect and help build our communities for the future. While we will not be offering tv packages as a service, the broadband speed offered by MLConnect will make streaming for programs such as Netflix, Hulu, etc. a viable option.

BE GREAT IF TV SERVICE LIKE DIRECT TV OR DISH NETWORK OR COMCAST COULD BE INCLUDED. MAYBE IT WOULD NOT GO OUT EVERY TIME A SPRING SHOWER OR JUST A CLOUD CAME OVER..

Our first phase includes in and around the cities within each of the counties MLEC serves. First up are Waverly, Hohenwald and Centerville. After that, we'll be building out in the other cities in this order to complete Phase I in 2019: New Johnsonville, Erin, Tennessee Ridge, McEwen, Linden and Lobelville. The first MLConnect phase for broadband construction will help build the entire project’s infrastructure. After that, areas where members have logged interest will help guide the projects’ progress. Click “I’m Interested” on www.mlconnect.com to log your interest with no obligation to buy.

So on the Service Area map, is the dark yellow sections right around the town centers the 2019 buildout or the blue/purple/yellow areas going to be built in 2019?

No one wants to service any new areas on Highway 7 it seems. AT&T has not offered to extend anything even 1 more house. Comcast also has service in the Lyles area, but they also will not extend. Finally, someone listed the location in their service area. Wish we didn't have to do some sort of costly satellite with contract to get internet before this gets ready.

It was great to hear MLEC is going to provide Broadband, something much needed in our area. I was wondering if there is a possible date as to when we will see this become reality.

We have been looking forward to having a good internet service for some time. It will be nice to get a good price without having to negotiate prices, packages etc every year. Way to go MLEC!!!
